Pupil'S 'Road to London' Adventure

Nishi Randive, an Upper School pupil at St Cedd’s School, successfully completed her expedition from India to the UK by car. Nishi undertook the journey, which spanned 72 days from Mumbai to London, and saw her travel through 19 countries with her grandparents, Mr and Mrs Baldawa.

The trip was the brainchild of Nishi’s grandfather who had always dreamed of making the journey and was thrilled to make it a reality, and provide Nishi with the once-in-a-lifetime experience too.

After hearing about the fantastic opportunity Nishi had been offered, Dr Edmonds, the Head at St Cedd’s School on New London Road, fully supported the family on their decision to allow their daughter to go on this adventure, knowing what experience she would gain from an educational trip of this type.

All the children at St Cedd’s School have benefited from Nishi’s expedition as she has enjoyed sharing her experiences with fellow pupils on her return, including an assembly led by her grandfather.

Dr Edmonds says, “The benefits for Nishi have been immense not only in consolidating her knowledge of the taught curriculum and in bolstering her self-confidence and resilience as she scaled new heights, but also in her ability to maintain a routine of study during her trip leading to excellent academic results on her return. Nishi has proved that learning beyond the classroom has its advantages.”

Also using the trip to fundraise for a local charity, Nishi raised an impressive £2,863.07 for the Head and Neck Cancer Service at Broomfield Hospital.
