New Head Appointed at St Cedd’s School

Mr Matthew Clarke takes the reins of St Cedd’s School as Head from September 2018 having been promoted from Deputy Head. Mr Clarke takes over from Dr Pamela Edmonds, who was Head of St Cedd’s School in New London Road, Chelmsford, for seven years, as she moves on to pastures new.

Mr Clarke has extensive experience of St Cedd’s School as Head of Upper School, Head of ICT and Deputy Head during his five years at the outstanding School. A graduate of the University of Cambridge, where he read Mathematics with Education Studies, Matthew is excited to start his new position and welcome the children back for the Autumn Term: “I am absolutely delighted to have been given the opportunity to lead St Cedd’s School in the next stage of its development. I look forward to working closely with the whole school community to ensure that each child can reach their individual potential and be fully prepared not just for the transition to the Senior School of their choice, but also to be resilient, life-long learners.”

Mrs Ellie Hodivala has been appointed as Deputy Head from September 2018, stepping up from her role as Head of Academic within the Senior Leadership Team.

Mrs Frances Marshall, Chair of Governors at St Cedd’s School, says: “I am confident that Mr Clarke will make an outstanding leader for St Cedd’s School and his familiarity with the ethos of St Cedd’s School is a huge asset when moving the School forward to meet future challenges. He will be very ably supported by Mrs Hodivala whose capabilities are well known to the School community.”

Both Mr Clarke and Mrs Hodivala were selected from a strong field of shortlisted external applicants and underwent a rigorous interview process. The Governors and School community are delighted to have appointed such high quality candidates to lead the School and are excited about the School’s future.
